Our Earth Will Remember Us Again Someday (2020-2021)

The Weight We Carry Within I, II, III (2021)

Our Earth Will Remember Us Again Someday (2020-2021) looks at the modern applications of the veil, ceremonial mask making, and the crafting of anti-recognition garments as technologies of resistance. I use them as tools to revolt against state-designed surveillance mechanisms. As a means to discuss the themes of invisibility, hypervisibility, and disappearing. I think of what it means to cloak, shape shift, become chimeric.

I use the series as a site to grapple with the themes of permanence and impermanence, primarily through the exploration of the questions "‘How do we tell stories of defiance? How do we archive remembrance?’, using black and white photography as my chosen medium I attempt to shoot images of a sitter that is almost ghost like, creating an illusion of a body travelling between time and space.
