Commissioned by Bristol Old VicThe Season of Burning Things, is a collaborative moving image piece that grapples with the theme of impermanence. The film takes the lead from the East African mythos, Blackness and Islamic imagery to explore myth-making. Using archival footage, experimental sound, and familial interviews the project seeks to explore the idea of movement, of migration through porous borders between countries, but also between realms. It seeks to look at transience, as a way to understand and conceive of a 'generation of ghosts", of people passing through.
